Interview about challenges and Impacts of the Brazilian General Data Protection Law “LGPD”

The General Data Protection Law “LGPD” (Law No. 13,709 of 2018) is the most recent initiative from Brazil’s legislative power to regulate the processing of personal data as information related to an identified or identifiable individual. In this regard, the Law indicates specific rules concerning the processing of data in Brazil, in a time when operations between individuals and institutions have increased, mostly on digital means, where the exposure of user’s personal information leads to greater risks to the privacy of data subjects.

Considering the large impact caused by “LGPD” rules on market operations, it is important that companies are updated with its legal obligations, and that data subjects are aware of its rights granted by the Law.

Regarding this scenario, the program Inova UFPR, promoted by Innovation Agency of the Federal University of Paraná, addressed the issue “The Impacts and Challenges of The General Data Protection Law”, with the participation of Raíssa Viana de Barros, member of Baril Advogados, who debated on the legal and commercial aspects of the “LGPD”.

The recording of the program was broadcasted on December 1st 2020, and it is available for viewing at: https://fb.watch/2n9jQZVqAW/
